Or at least, the ones on here aren't for win 95 or for this specific card. Getting a connection reset error when trying to get them from the s3 site. The process for installing video drivers on 95 is to uninstall the standard pci adapter drivers, then point it to the proper ones upon restart when you get the prompt, right
Recommendation: Windows users who are inexperienced in updating S3 Graphics Card device drivers can use the DriverDoc driver update tool [Download DriverDoc - Product by Solvusoft] to help update these Trio64V2/DX drivers. DriverDoc saves time and headaches by making sure that you are downloading and installing the correct Trio64V2/DX drivers.
In addition, DriverDoc not only ensures your Graphics Card drivers stay updated, but with a database of over 2,150,000 drivers (database updated daily), it keeps all of your other PC's drivers updated as well.
Trio64V2/DX errors can be related to corrupt or outdated device drivers. Device drivers can be functional one day, and then stop functioning the next day due to a number of causes. The exciting news is that you can likely update the Graphics Card device drivers in order to avoid malfunctions.
It is very difficult to find the respective device driver for Trio64V2/DX-related hardware because the information and support is hard to find on S3 Graphics's site. The process of upgrading the Trio64V2/DX's device drivers, even for an experienced computer user, can still take long periods of time and become repetitive to execute periodically. An improper driver download can lead to issues with software and harm the functionality of the computer.
There is a lot of work involved in updating device drivers, so we strongly suggest downloading and installing a driver update utility. A driver update tool ensures that you have correct driver versions for your hardware, and also creates a backup of your current drivers before making any changes. Backing up your drivers provides you with the security of knowing that you can rollback any driver to a previous version if something goes wrong.
If the driver listed is not the right version or operating system, search our driver archive for the correct version. Enter s3 trio 64 v2/dx into the search box above and then submit. In the results, choose the best match for your PC and operating system.
Once you have downloaded your new driver, you'll need to install it. In Windows, use a built-in utility called Device Manager, which allows you to see all of the devices recognized by your system, and the drivers associated with them.

Can anyone who has an S3 Trio64V+ please install Windows NT 3.51 Workstation to see if it has any driver support (either through Windows's built-in S3 driver or through the Trio64V2/DX drivers on VOGONS Vintage Driver Library) for those cards
The reason why I ask is because I might be looking into downgrading my Diamond Stealth 3D 2000 card in favor of some S3 Trio64 card with 2+MB of RAM now that I know that, according to everyone's favorite DOS game GPU compatibility matrix, the Diamond Stealth series cards suffer from a serious display problem with the Commander Keen games which gives me the impression that they're not as good as the other brand S3 cards when it comes to game compatibility. Upon doing a quick eBay search, most of the affordable S3 Trios that I've found with 2+MB of RAM are V+ models which don't seem to have Windows NT3.51 drivers available, yet the Windows 3.1x drivers for the Trio64V2/DX are supposedly compatible with the Trio64V+ cards. So I need to know if the Trio64V+ cards really do work with NT3.51 like the other S3 cards (e.g. the Trio32/64/64V2 and Virges) do.
Tip: To speed up DOS games, try the S3VBE20 and S3SPDUP utilities if the specific games support VBE 2.0 and/or are compatible with S3SPDUP. Tip: For Windows 98, use S3 drivers over the default ones that come with Windows.
The Trio3D/2X came out a year later in 1999, again with 4 MB or 8 MB RAM options, though it supported the faster SDRAM. The 2D acceleration was improved again from the Trio3D, and S3 managed to eek out better 3D performance, though it sits somewhere between the budget ViRGE/MX and its bigger brother the GX/2 of 2 years prior. Texturing in system memory is supported (and is 24-bit depth), leveraging AGP 2x's higher transfer rates. S3 also managed to rehash their drivers with Trio3D/2X with good compatibility.
Vogons member muses \"Trio 3d is Virge rebranded as business accelerator. It fixed the blending bugs of Virge. The 2x version has its own drivers and can do better in some geometry tests, so I think small improvements happened. Direct3d games are rendered more or less correctly, but it does not have the clocks of Virge GX2 and falls behind by 10-15%. At some point wirebond packaging limits memory interface speed, but I guess Trio 3D was about lowest price possible. When judged by market share and longevity, the Virge was probably best 3d architecture ever. Suck it up performance enthusiasts.\"
As a result, Trio3D can run 3DMark01 while ViRGE can't. However, a third party OpenGL wrapper for ViRGE based on S3D can't run on Trio3D, guess its driver may have dropped S3D support and attempted to support D3D instead.
To use the card in DOS, a driver called S3LEGACY.COM must be loaded. It stays in memory but fortunately only takes up about 3 KB. To allow Sound Blaster Pro support on motherboards that do not support DDMA (Distributed DMA), you also need to load S3DOSVM.EXE. As the name suggests this is some sort of virtual machine, and requires EMM386 to be loaded. It takes DOS out of real mode, which will cause issues running numerous games that require x86 real mode.
The chipset also got embedded SRS 3D surround sound, which gives you the effect of surround sound from just 2 speakers, though it can run using a 4-speaker setup which is preferred. The earliest drivers provided no controls to adjust the SRS surround sound and poor reverb and chorus, but S3's later drivers fixed this adding Centre/Space level control, and reverb and chorus were also improved.
To open the Device manager, first open the Control Panel and then double click on SYSTEM, from there select Device Manager. (This is probably the most commonly used place to install, update, and remove drivers.)
To install or update the driver of that device double click on the device sub headed, (Shown in the example above is the S3 Trio64V2-DX/GX (775/785)) you will then get the following option.
All the display adapters used in a computer with multiple-display support must be Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) or Accelerated Graphics Port (AGP) devices using multiple-display-enabled display adapter drivers included with Windows 98. Industry Standard Architecture / Extended Industry Standard Architecture (ISA / EISA) display adapters are not supported.Display adapters with the following chip sets cannot be used as a multiple-display support device:
Any combination of the following supported PCI-based display adapters can be used with multiple-monitors. Only display adapters based on the following chip sets work as primary and secondary adapters.Note #1: Only the PCI adapters listed below are supported as the primary adapter. However, other PCI adapters may work even though they are not supported.Note #2: You also need to use the specified driver. These drivers are supported by Microsoft and are included on the Windows 98 CD-ROM:
Note: Only certain updates work. These are 40, 42, 43, 44, 52, 53, & 54. Note that if the card is at one of these updates, then Windows 98 will recognize the card as a Trio 64V+, provided the Microsoft driver is used. If the card is not at one of these updates, then it is recognized as a Trio 32/64. Some OEM drivers don't care which update is present; be sure to note carefully which Microsoft driver Windows 98 selects when you use this card.S3 Trio64V2(DX/GX)S3MM.drvDiamond Stealth 64 Video 2001STB PowerGraph 64V+STB MVP 64Miro TwinHead 22SDHercules Terminator 64/VideoNumber Nine 9FX Reality 332 (S3 Virge)Number Nine 9FX Reality 334 (S3 Virge GX/2)Number Nine 9FX Reality 772 (S3 Virge VX)California Graphics V2/DXVideologic GraphicsStar 410Cirrus 5436CIRRUSMM.drvCirrus AlpineCirrus 5446CIRRUSMM.drvSTB Nitro 64VS3 ViRGE S3V.drv(ViRGE (325)ViRGE VX (988)ViRGE DX (385)ViRGE GX (385))Diamond Stealth 3D 2000Diamond Stealth 3D 3000Diamond Stealth 3D 2000 ProNumber Nine 9FX Reality 332STB Nitro 3DSTB Powergraph 3DSTB Velocity 3DSTB MVP/64STB MVP/64 3DSTB WorkStation (2 & 4 output)Miro Crystal VR4000ET6000ET6000.drvHercules Dynamite 128/VideoSTB Lightspeed 128Compaq Armada S3MM.drvTrident 9685/9680/9682TRID_PCI.DRV /9385/9382/9385Jaton Video - 57PMore information on how to enable Multiple Display Support in Windows 98 can be found in Microsoft's Knowledge Base Article No. 179602.Note: Normally you don't need to reinstall Windows 98 if you add a graphic card to start using the multiple monitor functionality. There's one exception: if you have a graphic adapter build into your motherboard, chances are that Windows 98 might not detect your on board graphics adapter after adding an additional adapter. In that case you'd have to reinstall Windows 98.For troubleshooting Multiple Display support, see Microsoft's Knowledge Base Article No. 182930.Other relevant Microsoft Knowledge Base Article's: 153554b96e
