With the T.sonic 840 attached via USB 3.0, the inside (the deck) and rear of a dock is home to a stylish looking 24-bit DTS audio connection. This is a really cool feature as DTS isn't a standard AES/EBU audio format but it has become a popular format used by Blu-ray players and other devices.
Sliding out of the top of the ASUS AURA RGB is a stand that can be rested on a desk to hold the T.sonic 840. The back is finished in black and the entire unit is fairly imposing with a leather-esque interior to match. With a damage-resistant stainless steel edge you are pretty much safe with this dock.
The T.sonic 840 comes supplied with a standard 1TB hard drive and you can add another of whatever capacity you want depending on your library requirements. To top it all off, the T.sonic 840 can be made to boost the volume from a non-aural port, doubling the volume (360dB) and adds a USB hub with up to two USB 3.0 ports. An onboard memory card reader is used to add very basic storage options.
In the CPU department, the T.sonic 840 is equipped with Intel's quad-core i3-6300U processor built on the Coffee Lake micro-architecture. With motherboard chipset being the Z8700, we could have expected the computer to run cooler and use less power but surprisingly the unit runs very hot due to the on-board USB hub and doesn't use a significant amount of power, running a Wattage of just 9 Watts.
Versatile SATA ports are fitted to the underside of the board and include six SATA3 and eight SATA2 ports for connected drives. The T.sonic 840 features three USB 3.1 ports - two of which can be backed up with USB 3.0 ports - four USB 2.0 ports and two USB 2.1 Gen 1 ports. d2c66b5586
