You were right - I checked and both my my HTTPS Everywhere browser extension and my paid for version of Malwarebytes were both complaining about the website, but not complaining about the zip file itself. I was finally able to add two IP addresses to my Malwarebytes exceptions list, which then allowed me to download the zip file onto the old ASUS laptop that I was working on. I then unzipped the file, and told Device Manager to install the drivers located in the desktop folder.
After installing the driver (version 7.35.344.0, dated 01/26/2016), the Broadcom network adapter wifi adapter mini-card now showed me more info about itself in Device Manager. It now said it was a "Broadcom BCM4352HMB 802.11ac 2x2 Wifi Adapter". However, this wifi adapter would still not stay connected. Whenever I manually connected it to my router, it would stay connected for only 3-6 seconds and would then turn itself off, which caused the Internet connection to immediately drop. This now happened whether or not the separate TP-Link USB wifi adapter was plugged into the laptop.
I really appreciate your help with tracking down the driver for this Broadcom wifi mini-card, but it seems that either I bought a defective wifi mini-card or else it is somehow not compatible with Windows 10.

The hardware in the Broadcom bcm4352 has been used in a number of hardware devices. There include the Broadcom BCM20702 Bluetooth which is a USB device. There is also the generic Broadcom Bluetooth 4.0 as well as the BCM4335 Bluetooth 4.0. The BCM43142 Bluetooth 4.0 as well as the Dell Wireless 1704 Bluetooth and the Trust Bluetooth as well. Note that the DW1550 Bluetooth 4.0 LE as well as the ASUS USB-BT400 and Belkin Bluetooth 4.0 USB Adapter also use this hardware.
Note that this is the Windows 8 driver and if you wish to install this on a Windows 10 machine. You will need to install this driver in the compatibility mode. There are a number of other drivers on this website as well. This includes the bcm43142a0 wifi driver Windows 7 as well for a start. See the Broadcom 802.11n wireless lan driver as well as the Broadcom 802.11n network adapter. There is also the Broadcom bcm43xx driver Windows 10 as you can see. These are all similar to the Broadcom BCM4352 Wireless Win 8.
Had the same problem with Ubuntu 18.04 on Dell XPS 13 9343, where the wireless adapter recently stopped working after an upgrade. The proprietary driver (bcmwl-kernel-source, which is the only one that supports BCM4352 802.11ac) would not load:
Unfortunately, the thread hasn't any useful answer, cause I can't say 117-144mbps too low, but can't get my 300 mbps back. I do believe it's a driver issue, will wait for broadcom driver's updates. With latest 7.35.290.0 still have an issue.
On a side note, since the keywords to bring about wayward googlers are in the thread: If you are using the ASUS PCE-AC68 wireless card on windows 10, youmust use the driver supplied on the driver CD you purchased it with or from ASUS.com. Allowing theBroadcom driver to be installed will result in a BSOD every time you demand more than a google search out of the card. Windows will want to install the Broadcom driver by default if you update the device through windows update, so you will need to manually install it. Note that the ASUS wireless utility that is installed alongside the driver is not needed for the card to function, and you may simply close it and remove it from startup.
This package provides the Broadcom Wireless LAN drivers for supported notebook models running a supported operating system. Broadcom Wireless LAN drivers are required to enable the integrated Broadcom Wireless LAN adapter. 2b1af7f3a8
