The UN special commission has hired the ION, Inc. contract to protect its operatives as they investigate cross-border smuggling tunnels dug by the Takistani rebel army and further penetrate into Takistani borders into Afghanistan. The UN commission leads a team of investigators to the border region where NATO forces have been conducting a night raid to stop a convoy transporting foreign arms and military supplies from crossing the border.

With the mission’s success, the UN commission sets a course to cross the border into Afghanistan, safe from the Taliban’s rifle fire, to continue their investigation of the weapons smuggling operation. A convoy of vehicles, including a Toyota Land Cruiser, is intercepted by an ION, Inc. gun-wielding guard near the border. The team of UN investigators is separated from the convoy and searched for weapons, drugs, and contraband by the ION, Inc. security team. The ION, Inc. security team, unaware that the UN team is armed with nuclear weapons, takes control of the convoy. The UN team is not harmed during the exchange.

The UN team is being hunted down by a Takistani armed forces faction known as the Saints of Dawn. The Saints take a sanguine approach to the loss of civilians, refusing to undertake any action that could result in the deaths of innocents. Their primary goal is to find the UN team before they can find the missing nuclear weapons. However, the Saints are not the only enemy to the UN team; the Takistani resistance guerillas are also hunting them down. Their modus operandi is to target any UN team member that appears to be a civilian.
